I fatti narrati partono dal 2099, anno dell\u2019incoronazione di Bruno, e proseguono lungo una quindicina d\u2019anni, fino all\u2019<em>acm\u00e8<\/em> della sua potenza imperialistica. L\u2019opera offre molti spunti anche sulla vita politica sociale ed artistica di quegli anni e sulle grandi rivoluzioni scientifiche, filosofiche e religiose. L\u2019impianto storico del volume \u00e8 sostenuto da un vigoroso corredo di note che rimandano ad una folta bibliografia di libri pubblicati nel futuro o di testi contemporanei, citati in edizioni future. L\u2019autore \u00e8 uno storico del XXIII secolo, Desmond Brown, di cui \u00e8 fornita una sintetica biografia all\u2019inizio del libro.
